Stewart has over 20 years of experience in fire, fuels, and resource management. He has worked for the BLM, NPS, and USFS in the Northern Rockies, Great Basin, Southwest, and Rocky Mountains. He has worked on wildland fire modules, engine and helitack crews, and has served in FOS, ZAFMO, and Deputy Fire Staff Officer (Fuels) positions for the DOI and USFS. Stewart holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Cultural Resource Management. He has been interested in the interaction and effect fire has on both cultural and natural resources. 

Stewart has a passion for both applying and managing fire on the landscape and teaching the next generation of firefighters. He participated both as a student and as a Field Coordinator with NIPFTC. He is qualified as an RXB2, DIVS, and ICT3 and is also pursuing ATGS, SOPL, and SOFC. He resides in Grand Junction, Colorado with his wife and two boys. They all enjoy telemark skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, and camping.
